Before & After

Moody BloomMoody After

The first photo of the cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) bloom was taken at Moody Lake the afternoon before the buffer alum application was conducted.  The second photo, showing the clearer water, was taken at the same location on the morning after the application.  This dramatic and immediate change is a result of the alum floc removing phosphorus and algae from the water column.  Long-term control of the phosphorus release from the lakebed by the alum will continue to keep the algae in check!
